Get motivated to make your own art! Weekends are the perfect time for setting aside side time to work on personal goals! Receive step-by-step instruction with plenty of individual critique and demonstrations fundamental to help you go on your artistic journey! Our classes are small in size so you receive the guidance you need. This class is perfect for utter beginners who have never picked up a paintbrush before or for students who need more practice and time in the studio, we will meet you at your level! For total beginners, we recommend a full class course to see any real progress.

In this class course we will

 

  • Investigate the basics of color, composition, value, form, brushwork, and perspective. These fundamental elements are the same across all visual art mediums and styles. Learning them will help you become a well-rounded versatile artist and develop confidence.
  • Begin with principle drawing exercises in line, shape, color, texture, space, shading, and perspective. These exercises are essential to an understanding before moving on to working on a canvas and the application of paint.
  • Learn how to sketch out our compositions before moving on to working on a painting.
  • Get familiar with acrylic paint! 
  •  Learn color mixing and how to apply texture for depth.
  • Pick and choose the right subject matter to create dynamic compositions, we can work from pictures or photos or still life/ inanimate objects, and you are welcome to bring in your own.
Requirements / Pre-Requisite:
  • CANVAS IS NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR COURSE FEE. Please purchase a canvas and bring it with you to class, we recommend a medium size canvas to begin with. Canvas may be purchased at your local art store (support small business when you can!). Please note you may need more than one canvas for a full course pkg. A limited selection of Canvas can also be purchased in our studio for $35 and upwards. If you are purchasing a canvas from our studio, payment must be completed at class time, please note we do NOT offer IOU’s so please have the exact change with you. Acrylic paint and the use of brushes is supplied Speciality supplies like gloss/ glazes, or pouring mediums and glazes are NOT supplied , if you require these materials please bring them with you to class.
