What you’ll learn in this vegetarian cooking class:

Vegetarian dishes are fantastic and diverse in Indian cuisine. In fact, many of us don’t realize that at least half of India’s 1.3 billion people are vegetarian. Therefore, combined with India’s diverse geography and lifestyles, vegetarian foods also have reached great heights throughout the subcontinent’s thousands of years of history. This class is vegan and gluten-free so we are not using any ghee (clarified butter), which is otherwise much used in Indian cooking.

This course is available for “remote” learning and to anyone with access to an Internet device with a camera and microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with Mukti Banerjee, renowned chef and cooking teacher as the “Live” instructor.

Upon registration, you will get a Zoom ID. You can ask your questions toward the end of the class.

Mukti was an incredible host who welcomed my boyfriend, myself, and another couple into her home for an amazing three hour experience. She greeted us, told us about her history and how she became a cooking instructor, and then brought us into the kitchen to begin the experience.

We booked the vegan and gluten free class, and learned how to make pakora, coriander chutney, aloo gobi matar rasha, chana masala, vegetable pulao, and eggplant masala.

Mukti was patient, met us at our level, gave us clear and direct instructions, and recipes to take home with us! We could not have asked for a better evening.

Mukti’s vegetarian Indian cooking class was so much fun. She thoroughly educated us on how to find and use the best spices and had lots of practical tips that are helpful beyond cooking Indian dishes. (I’d have never guessed how easy it is to make any pan a non-stick pan!) The dishes we made were absolutely delicious. The only downside to taking her class is that it’ll ruin going to Indian restaurants afterwards once you know how flavorful authentic Indian dishes should taste! Thank you, Mukti!
