Isa is the original. I was a self-learned poi clutz until I took her class. I was suddenly inducted into the poi mindset and taught how to think about getting into the flow. What a great teacher I highly recommend learning from the master of the art!

  2. Brooke A,

Poi with Isa has opened up SO much for me. When I first signed up for the Temple of Poi Beginner Poi Series back in April 2019, I thought it sounded fun to learn some cool tricks and explore a new form of expression. I had no idea that spending time with Isa and taking classes alongside other community members would have such a big impact on my life.

Sure, it’s been amazing to go from knowing nothing about poi to feeling comfortable spinning fire infront of an audience in just a few months. But even bigger than that, Isa has given me the tools to step into myself, embrace my unique flow, and continue to explore how I want to show up for myself and others in this world. Equally as valuable as her INSANE poi skills, are her lived experiences and lessons that she naturally shares throughout her classes. I’ve learned sooooo much beyond Poi from Isa and my fellow students and there is so much more to learn. Isa is a true teacher – gifted, open, curious, diligent, creative, passionate, wise, playful, caring and dedicated to her students and her art.

I have taken several classes at the Temple of Poi. Some of them were taught by Isa. She is a wonderful instructor and is skilled and can teach competently. She is great, she brings her own experience directly to the student and individualizes the teaching so everyone can learn in the class.

The classes I have attended were diverse in types of people and skill levels and she worked with everyone equally and treated everyone with compassion and respect.

The tools she teaches are not just applicable to poi, it is more broadly a philosophy for how to improve your quality of life. I would suggest that you take a class from the Temple, you will have fun and learn a lot.

Isa and Nova are great teachers. I’ve taken several courses from them at Temple of Poi, including beginner fire poi, most of which is fire safety training (as it should be), but it was also a ton of fun.

Isa is an amazing teacher who really focuses on creating a safe and productive learning space for everybody, no matter what level they’re at. In my case, I came in as a total beginner without much confidence. Over the past year I’ve learned and grown so much with Isa! It is so evident that she wants every student to succeed, and she is so patient and encouraging. I can’t imagine having gotten to where I am without her. Do the boot camp – it’s well worth it!

Also a note on community – I have made awesome friends through her classes, and part of what I love about Temple of Poi is the opportunity to create and engage in community. Classes are super diverse too – at no point did I feel like I didn’t belong or like I stood out. And the sense that “we’re all in this together” is very much a part of the atmosphere and experience!
